A House of Hynafol

The Golden Blades

Coin. Company. Contract.

The most professional mercenaries of the Known World: fastidious in contracts, fierce in the field, jovial in victory, and always dressed to be remembered.

Who We Are

Professional soldiers for hire

The Golden Blades are renowned for formalizing and honoring agreements. Breaking a contract is treated as a grave sin; working within the letter of a contract for unexpected results is simply good business.

Members fight for the Regiment first, but when no pressing matter calls, they are encouraged to pursue side jobs, personal ventures, and profitable opportunities across the Known World.

What We Stand For

The blade is sharp, but the contract is sharper.

Honor the Contract

Our word is our bond, and our bond is our business.

Serve the Company

The Regiment comes first when the drums call.

Look the Part

Goldenrod, dark blue, jewelry, sashes, feathers, and martial pride.

Earn Freely

Make coin, spend coin, and enjoy what the Known World offers.

The Five Great Companies

One Regiment, many specialties

Infantry

The main battle line: heavy armor, polearms, two-handed weapons, tight formations, and linebreakers in full plate.

Jaeger

Skirmishers, scouts, explorers, archers, crossbowmen, and occasional monster hunters.

Condottiere

Lawyers, doctors, diplomats, negotiators, and the regiment’s experts in wheeling and dealing.

Sappers

Builders, demolitionists, siege specialists, and keepers of the regiment’s siege weapons.

Marina Mercantile

Maritime operations, the Golden Fleet, and the Marine Corps.

History

From battlefield salvage to professional regiment

Oberst Anton von Forst, a veteran sellsword, formed the first version of the regiment in 807 A.C. What began as battlefield salvage became something larger: a disciplined, recruited, negotiated, and drilled company of professionals.

Culture

Martial pride with a taste for the finer things

The Blades are martial at their core, yet closer to an international business than a simple military unit. They are known for flamboyant clothing, jewelry, plumage, riotous garb, and a dangerous willingness to live well while fortune lasts.

Aesthetic Influences

Condottiere, Swiss Confederation, and Landsknecht inspiration

The Golden Blades draw heavily from 15th and 16th century Italian and Central European mercenary traditions, while still recruiting from across the Known World.
